Come, Praise the Lord, the Almighty

Paul Inwood, James Quinn, SJ

Using an expansive hymn tune, FENBY, of his own composition, Inwood has majestically set Quinn’s paraphrase of Psalm 117 for SATB choir, organ, and brass quartet. Foursquare rhythms, a fluid sense of tonality, and an expressive modulation up a step for the final verse musically depict the gravity and grandeur of the text, a stirring song of praise to the Triune God. This piece is especially suitable as an entrance song or for the Exposition of the Holy Eucharist. A simplified hymn version is also included in this octavo.
