Andrew  Wright

Award-winning English composer and organist Andrew Wright is known for the beauty and liturgical purpose of his compositions, such as his “Requiem of Peace.” His work is a “fusion of the English choral tradition with the pastoral needs of the Roman Catholic liturgy of today.”

Bio

Oxford he sang as an early member of the Tallis Scholars. Under his leadership, the music program at Brentwood Cathedral in England has grown to include multiple choirs and instrumental groups. In 2008, Andrew was unanimously elected to an Honorary Fellowship of the Guild of Church Musicians in recognition of his "great contribution to church music over many years." Andrew is also a Knight of the Pontifical Order of Saint Gregory the Great.

Andrew’s collections, A Requiem of Peace and Other Choral Works and Hymns and Anthems for the Church Year, include settings of the popular works “St. Patrick’s Breastplate” and “Ave Maria.” His “Requiem of Peace” has been widely performed in Europe and in the United States, including at the Los Angeles Cathedral.

Andrew Wright has been director of liturgical music for the Diocese of Brentwood, England, since 1982.
