Landry stated that the inspiration for this song was the idea that a child can identify with Jesus in a special way at Christmas: because Jesus was born a baby and was “small like me” for several years as a child. This joyful, liturgically-flexible Christmas hymn can be sung by children, adults, or both together as a gathering song, a recessional, an offertory, or even as a meditation hymn after Communion. Verse 4 should be used for the Epiphany.
