Shout Praise, Shout Praise, O Israel
Justin Wedgewood,
Genevieve Glen, OSB
According to Sister Glen, “singing the psalms should sometimes be a lot of fun,” and has crafted a text inspired by Psalm 100 but centered on the joy of Christ’s presence in our midst. Wedgewood’s musical response is an energetic, spirited assembly song scored for SAB choir, descant, keyboard, guitar, and a raft of percussion instruments (congas, cabasa, claves, tambourine, and even cowbell). This piece is ideal as an entrance song and, with five verses, would be especially effective for liturgies with lengthy processionals.
