By using strong texts and rhythms that are typical of Latin music, especially from Mexico, Eleazar Cortés has created a collection that gives Spanish-speaking people a unique voice in the liturgy. Written specifically as a responsorial psalm, “Abres Tú la Mano, Señor” exhibits the huapango rhythm, which is very common for musicians who are familiar with Mexican folklore.
