Bio

Luke holds a bachelor of music degree (Choral Music Education) and a masters of music (Choral Conducting Performance) from Bowling Green State University. For 23 years, he served as the director of music ministry at Corpus Christi University Parish in Toledo, Ohio, and now serves in the same capacity at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford, Ohio. In addition to his church ministry, he was the director of choral music at St. John’s Jesuit High School & Academy for 15 years and is now the director of choral music for Evergreen Local Schools in Metamora, Ohio. Since 2023, he has directed the Perrysburg Chorale, a high-level community chorus emphasizing choral excellence.

He has dedicated his life and career to fill out repertoire necessities, meditating on texts and creating music that highlights the beauty of each message. Inspired by analyzing what music groups are fed by spiritually and building upon that, Luke’s message is an expression of hope and inclusion for everyone.

His projects include a setting of “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” a complete three-year psalm cycle, the Morning and Evening Song from his Good Friday Vespers Service, a piece for men’s chorus and symphonic band on a Gerard Manley Hopkins, SJ poem about St. Alphonsus Rodriguez, amongst others.

In 2017, Luke was included in the Seton and Elder Performing Arts Series Hall of Fame (Cincinnati, OH).

He currently lives in Toledo, OH and frequently holds workshops on piano improvisation and teaches composition and music theory at St. John’s Jesuit High School.
