Bio
Luke Mayernik (composer, organist, pianist, harpsichordist, improviser and collaborative artist) studied with David Garner, Rodney Gehrke, and David Conte, earning his M.M. in Composition from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His work has been heralded as "stylish and elegant" by Choir and Organ magazine and "delicious and imaginative" by Pulitzer Prize winner & US Poet Laureate Rita Dove.
Blending homage to his Eastern Orthodox faith with the progressiveness of Western art, theology and tonality, music from his Ever Ancient, Ever New collection includes expressive and memorable melodies, supported by harmonic language that is both tasteful and engaging. His compositions are published with OCP; Walton Music; E.C. Schirmer; MorningStar; Graphite Publishing; GIA Publications, Inc; Santa Barbara Music Publishing.
Being awarded a full-scholarship and a teaching position in composition/music theory, Luke is currently a doctoral student at The University of Texas at Austin, studying composition with Donald Grantham.
