Bio
John Michael Talbot is a legendary Christian musician with more than 53 albums. After a successful career in secular music (he was a member of Mason Proffit, a country-folk-rock band), he began a spiritual journey that led him to evangelical Christianity and the Jesus Movement. Finally, drawn to Catholicism and Saint Francis of Assisi, he became a Roman Catholic in 1978. By 1989 he had founded his own religious community, the Brothers and Sisters of Charity, at Little Portion Hermitage in Arkansas.
A brilliant songwriter and guitarist, John Michael is one of the best-selling Catholic musicians of all time. Songs like “Holy Is His Name,” “Come, Worship the Lord,” “Only in God,” “Taste and See” and “Father, I Put My Life in Your Hands” are worship favorites among both Protestants and Catholics. He has several best-selling collections with OCP, including Table of Plenty, Cup of Blessing and City of God. His latest release, Worship and Bow Down, marked the debut of his Mass setting Mass of Rebirth.
After his monastery burned in 2008, John Michael developed an itinerant ministry, traveling from parish to parish around the country offering sacred music, inspired teaching and spiritual renewal. In 2014 he launched “All Things Are Possible,” his first television show, on the Church Channel. He maintains an active recording and touring schedule.
John Michael is currently general minister of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity. He lives with his wife and religious community in Berryville, Arkansas.
