Bio

Greg Hayakawa has been a singer, composer, liturgist, music minister and choir director at places including Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, St. Monica’s Church in Santa Monica, St. Corpus Christi Church in Pacific Palisades, St. Anastasia Church in Westchester, and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Woodland in Woodland, California.

Greg was an original member of Bob Hurd’s ensemble, Anawim. His compositions, “I Am the Light of the World” and “When We Eat This Bread,” were included in Hurd’s album, Roll Down the Ages. Greg wrote the theme song, “Gathered Today,” for St. Monica’s Centennial celebration in 1986. He also wrote two theme songs for the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress: “Proclaim the Glory” (1989) and “Waters of the Earth” (1991), which was co-written with Heather (Sheridan) Catalena.

Greg and his wife, Mary, are both retired and living in Davis, California. They have two daughters and a son, who have all graduated with a BFA in musical theater.
