You Are My Shepherd
Based on Psalm 23, this piece uses an ostinato refrain scored for SATB choir, but whose melody is easily learned by the assembly, to create a feeling of meditation. Once the refrain tune and text are established, there are several options available for performance: the cantor can sing the verses in order, alternate with the solo instrument (which has several interchangeable countermelodies), or perform simultaneously with the solo instrument.
