The refrain for this spiritual doubles as an ostinato refrain, and can be sung quietly or hummed under the verses, or, as the arranger suggests, sung after every 2–3 verses. The text is set simply alongside a wordless, two-part vocal harmony line to make sure that the text of the verses retains pride of place in the musical presentation. This is an excellent piece to introduce the spiritual style to choirs and congregations who might not otherwise be familiar with it.
