“If we songwriters have a goal, it is to incarnate the song that is already in people’s hearts as they respond to the Word.” —Cyprian Consiglio, OSB Cam

A collection of contemporary sacred music, There Is a Light skillfully blends jazz, reggae and rock. While some of the songs are especially appropriate for liturgy, others are suitable for retreats, days of prayer or to support the growing faith of people in their daily activities.

Written for a youth day in Texas for a mixed Anglo/Hispanic gathering, “Echo of Your Peace” is Brother Cyprian’s version of the prayer attributed to St. Francis of Assisi. Expressing angst and urgency, “I Thirst” is a testament that we can’t do it alone, and “Eternal” is the infamous reggae setting of Psalm 138.

Along with performance notes and an insightful introduction, the guitar/instrument book provides guitar parts and voicing for all the songs.
