Bio

Born in Havana, Cuba, Father Juan J. Sosa arrived in Miami in 1961 and was one of the first Cuban priests ordained for the Archdiocese of Miami. He is a published author and composer, and currently serves as president of the National Hispanic Institute for Liturgy and an advisor to the U.S. bishops’ Committee on Divine Worship. Father Sosa is also an adjunct professor at both Florida seminaries.

Father Juan’s collection Desde la Aurora hasta el Ocaso gives frequently used Church texts new life by setting them in a musical style that reflects the cultures of the Caribbean. His experience serving immigrant communities in South Florida for many years inspired his book, One Voice, Many Rhythms, an authoritative and encouraging guide for fellow priests, musicians and other pastoral ministers who are ministering in a multicultural parish.

Juan J. Sosa is a priest in the Archdiocese of Miami, Florida. He is pastor of Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
