The Mass setting is based on the haunting melody of the beloved American hymn, “What Wondrous Love Is This,” a song that has roots in the Appalachian region of the United States. First published around 1840, the hymn is a favorite among Christians of all denominations, especially as a song for Lent and Passiontide. A unique feature of Wondrous Love Mass is a complete setting of all the verses of the Lenten Gospel acclamation, with four options for the acclamation refrain.

With its familiar tune, Wondrous Love Mass is the perfect setting for parishes and communities looking for a reflective way to enter prayerfully into the season of Lent. The 14 sample tracks on this MP3 album will guide pastoral musicians and choirs as they learn this new Mass setting.
