Bio

Randall DeBruyn is an accomplished composer, arranger and pianist with more than 50 years of experience. In all his writing, the goal is to inspire worship of God through music, the heavenly language. He studied music at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and graduated with a doctor of musical arts in composition and theory from the University of Illinois, Champaign. He worked for OCP for more than 30 years, most as executive editor of English-language missals and hymnals. He was the editor of many hymnals, most recently Journeysongs, Third Edition. In his retirement, he continues to serve as a member of OCP’s music selection committee. He has many years of experience in parish music ministry.

Some of his most beloved compositions are “In Perfect Charity,” “The Lord Is My Light,” and “How Lovely Is Your Dwelling Place.” He is the composer of the popular Mass of the Resurrection. In addition to his OCP octavos and collections (Choral Descants, Come & Praise the Lord, Traditional Choral Praise and The Passion According to St. John), Randall has also written several original scores for the internationally known religious dramas and films of actor Leonardo Defilippis and St. Luke Productions (St. Francis, St. Maximillian Kolbe and St. John of the Cross).

Currently Randall resides in the Portland area with his family. He is working on a new collection of liturgical music as well as his Emmanuel Symphony.
